What is Apple ProRAW?

Apple ProRAW is the RAW capture mode on iPhone Pro models (introduced with the iPhone 12 Pro). Instead of a plain sensor dump, Apple saves a DNG that blends real RAW data with the iPhone's computational photography — Smart HDR, Deep Fusion and tone mapping — so you keep editing flexibility without losing the iPhone look. The files are large (often 25–75 MB) and, being RAW, aren't ideal to text or post directly. Converting to JPG makes them small and universally shareable.
